Sorry Mario Bros is a 2D platformer made over the course of 2 weeks by Scott and Casey Goodrow.
The game spans three of Super Mario Bros’ original levels, this time from right to left, as the Princess jumps, stomps, floats, and warps her way from the dark castle dungeon up to the bright and wonderful Mushroom Kingdom, proving that female protagonists can be just as awesome as male protagonists.

It’s geek week on Youtube! I thought I would share this excellent gaming project from The Wild Eternal that has the perpetually kidnapped Princess Peach saving herself. As someone who was tied to her PlayStation as a kid, Lara Croft was the only video game female character I saw that was smart, strong, and could save herself rather than being the “damsel in distress.” And I would have loved a game like this one. 45% of gamers are female, but only a handful of main characters in video games are women. Those of us who are geeks or gamers and women would much appreciate seeing ourselves in more games in leading roles.
As Marian Wright Edelman said, “You can’t be what you can’t see.”
