Meet our summer interns!
We asked our new interns, Hannah, AJ, and Chad to interview each other after their first week with us. They did pretty well so we let them design their Breakthrough team avatars! Get to know them a little more down below.
AJ, my intern partner in crime, hails from Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. He studies management through the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. His continued interest in nonprofit management brought him to Breakthrough this summer. Working within the small close-knit team at Breakthrough has allowed him to understand how all the different departments within our organization work together. When he is not pursuing human rights at work he enjoys playing chess at Washington Square Park!
Hannah is pursuing an interdisciplinary degree in media production for social justice at Miami University. She grew up in Oxford, Ohio, quite possibly the polar opposite of New York City. The combination of working at Breakthrough and experiencing New York has been overwhelmingly diverse and wonderful. Breakthrough has allowed her to examine human rights through the lens of pop culture, making for the best possible internship experience. Hannah loves production and just finished working as key grip on her first student film! Check it out here.
Chad is working toward a dual degree in finance and entrepreneurial management, with a specialization in energy, from Tulane University. His work at Breakthrough focuses on the power of social media and the Internet to promote human rights. He is also involved in non-profit management and business strategy. He hopes to apply the skills he’s acquiring at Breakthrough to work and advocate for his passion, alternative energy. Chad is from Gywnedd Valley, PA, a small town outside Philadelphia. When he’s not at Breakthrough you can find him shooting hoops with his friends or asking directions to the nearest subway.
